Domestic Violence Awareness Walk
The Domestic Violence Awareness Walk brought groups together to listen to survivors of violence and show how thankful Rewire is for our volunteers and partnering groups that constantly advocate. Rewire, PFLAG SRV, Narika, Contra Costa Senior Legal Services, and the Contra Costa County Family Justice Alliance are some major groups that attended. Additionally, we were honored to be joined by the City of San Ramon and Chief Carlson. This gathering served as a symbol of solitude that aims to unite all in the fight to end domestic violence. ๐

Community Vigil- in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Rewire had the opportunity to partner with Narika and PFLAG-SRV and host a candlelight vigil to help us remember those affected by domestic violence, gun violence, and international conflict. Those who attended were able to hear from various organizations such as Tri-Valley Haven, Woman Inc., Family Violence Law Center, and Planned Parenthood. Rewire members, along with Youth Changemakers, reflected on the importance of working as a community to end violence. We are so glad to have been part of this event so that we can build change and end violence.

Rewire at โVoices of Freedomโ
Rewire celebrated freedom at the exhibition for the Voices of Freedom which was held through the month of October at the San Ramon Community Center. Focusing on movement to express freedom, we were grateful for the chance to see how other groups chose to represent themselves. The variety of artwork showed how art can convey emotions in many ways and how the mediums of art can show freedom through different perspectives. Partnering with InnerEye Arts and PFLAG SRV, Rewire is beyond thankful for being a part of this exhibition!

2024 Back-to-School Drive
We ran our third annual back-to-school supply drive in August, delivering 136 items to local organizations! We are filled with gratitude for the support that weโve received. We are thrilled to share that 40 backpacks, filled with school supplies such as pencils, sharpeners, pens, notebooks, and other essentials, along with 40 lunchboxes, were delivered to the Narika organization, and 56 backpacks with similar school supplies were delivered to the Asian Womenโs Shelter. Rewire thanks these organizations for distributing these materials, designed to aid in studentsโ success, to families that have been affected and displaced by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Our work at Rewire is collective, and weโre extremely grateful for all the donors and volunteers who have enabled us to work towards our vision of a violence-free and safe community for all. While this drive ends, our commitment to serving our community continues!

Swaraksha: a transformative workshop
โA moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your lifeโ - Christopher Germer
Rewire Community was honored to offer two workshops (virtual and in-person) about 'self- compassion' and 'self protection'- "Swaraksha". Designed specifically for women, 'Swaraksha' helped discover how self-compassion is intricately connected to the functioning of our brains, teaching us how to self-soothe. Gain insight into the neuroscience behind it and learn practical techniques for greater emotional resilience and happiness!
Big thanks to Sangita Biswas, LMFT, who designed and facilitated two interactive, inclusive and action-focused workshops! Whether we were listening online, or interacting in-person, every moment felt meaningful!
We also thank each person who joined us, and by extension of that, simply showed up for themselves!

InterFaith EarthFest
Rewire Community joined the InterFaith EarthFest in Danville, CA, to celebrate Earth Day with the community. A town assisted community event, this is a collaborative celebration in its second year, showcasing exhibits, speakers, booths, activities, music, art and ceremony to spotlight local eco-successes; and stories of hope inspiring ongoing community action for care and stewardship for the planet.
We tabled and also had an opportunity to share some movement to a song called โMumkin haiโ, meaning โIt is possibleโ. We chose this song as it spoke about the seed of possibilities, power, change, revolution and evolution. Of surviving, and sustaining. As life continues. We also did an interactive art activity asking the community to share a thought on โequality to me isโฆโ- the piece will be incorporated into a new EarthFest Art Exhibit at Peace. Also, it may be circulated among various interfaith congregations.
We are so grateful we get to raise the connection between gender justice and climate justice!

Rewire Community @ DVHS Healthy Connections
What a way to close out Teen Dating Violence Awareness month- spending the afternoon with the youth in Dougherty Valley High School (DVHS) in San Ramon, as part of their Wellness Centerโs Healthy Connections event!
It was an opportunity to speak to healthy boundaries and relations, share local community resources and drive overall awareness around interpersonal violence and teen dating violence.
Shoutout to the DVHS youth leads who led our interactive โself-care and wellnessโ quiz. Students also came to the table and to fill hearts with their thoughts on what self-care means to them- all put on the canvas with โWillieโ (DVHS mascot). The final piece has been gifted to the DVHS Wellness Center!
It was additionally wonderful to be standing next to some of the youth-led orgs โ Project Morph and City of San Ramon Teen Council!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Open Mic
Love. Rebel. Community. Trust. Education. Wisdom. Allyship. Assignment. Clarity. Tireless champion. Vigilance. Courageโฆ.Just some of the many words we heard on Jan 15 at the gathering to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.โs legacy and work.
A powerful afternoon with spoken word, music and movement, hearing about the journeys, experiences, vision and commitments of those present!
โWe have a dreamโ- said one of the youth leads, speaking about a world where all are free, equal, safe. Another younger one reminded us โItโs been a long time coming, but change is gonna come!โ Oh how the youth showed up! Not to miss the youngest speaker who closed the event singing happy birthday to MLK
Rewire Community brought movement to the afternoon, saluting the courage of survivors of violence, and gratitude for the advocates and activists who continue to support!
Thank you to San Ramon Valley Diversity Coalition, to the other co-hosts, the volunteers, organizers and San Ramon City for bringing us together. In solidarity.
